Nutrients Canada 4.5.2

Nutrients Canada offers a mobile adaptation of the Canadian Nutrient File, bringing the comprehensive database directly to the iPhone and iPod Touch platforms.

The application integrates the complete 2015 version of the database, which was developed by Health Canada.

According to Health Canada, the Canadian Nutrient File (CNF) is "a comprehensive, computerized bilingual database that reports up to 152 nutrients in over 5,690 foods. The database can assist users in finding nutrient values such as vitamins, minerals, protein, energy, fat, and many others. It is updated periodically."

Within nutrients Canada, the database contents are organized in a hierarchical structure for ease of navigation. The app features a search function that allows for both global searches and searches within specific food groups. When selecting a food item, users are presented with a detailed page displaying nutrient information based on standard servings or packaging sizes. The nutritional data is presented in a consistent format aligned with Canadian nutritional labeling standards.

Users have the option to bookmark frequently accessed foods for quick retrieval. Additionally, owners of compatible devices and printers can generate printable nutritional labels directly from the application.

Nutrients Canada was also featured in Episode 47 of the KinFit podcast (www.kinfit.tv), which focuses on fitness and health topics.
